TUGUEGARAO CITY, Philippines – A re-elected village councilman reportedly shot and wounded a constituent who allegedly did not vote for him during the elections in Hacienda San Antonio on Wednesday.
Jery Zipagan, 28, was rushed to the Isabela Provincial Hospital for treatment while the suspect identified as Romarico Tolentino Sr. was arrested by responding policemen, according to city police chief Superintendent Vicente Valdez.
Reports said Tolentino shot the victim who was passing in front of his residence on a motorcycle.
In Ilocos Norte, a losing candidate is facing charges for allegedly punching his political rival in the head.
Eufrocino Ruiz was celebrating his victory with his fellow poll winners when the suspect identified as Zaldy Claro punched him.
