Makati City suspends number coding from Nov 1 to 2

MANILA, Philippines - The Makati City government will suspend the number coding scheme on All Saints Day and All Souls Day.

Makati Department of Public Safety (DPS) Director Hermenegildo San Miguel also announced that they will implement a re-routing plan to ease the flow of traffic within the vicinity of the Manila South Cemetery.

San Miguel said the following streets will be closed to vehicular traffic:

Kalayaan Avenue – from Zapote Street to F. Zobel St.; South Avenue – from Metropolitan to J.P. Rizal; Vito Cruz – from South Avenue to Zapote St.; N. Garcia (formerly Reposo) Street – from Jupiter to JP Rizal; and Pililia Street – from J.P. Rizal to Kalayaan Avenue.

On the other hand, the following streets will be open to two-way traffic: J.P. Rizal – from Pasong Tirad to Makati Avenue; Kalayaan Avenue – from F. Zobel St. to Makati Avenue and from Pasong Tirad to Zapote St.

San Miguel said the traffic rerouting will be in effect from midnight of October 31 to midnight of November 2.

The number coding scheme, meanwhile, will be lifted from November 1 to 2.

San Miguel said the Makati Rescue and the Makati Health Department will deploy ambulances and medical teams to provide medical assistance and emergency first-aid in strategic areas.
