MANILA, Philippines - Immigration officers have arrested at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) a pregnant Chinese woman who tried to enter Hong Kong using a fake Philippine passport.
Bureau of Immigration (BI) acting chief Siegfred Mison identified the detained Chinese as Cai Quiye.
Mison said that Cai left Manila on Sunday using a Chinese passport and then presented a fake Philippine passport under the name Aileed de Leon Abella upon arrival in Hong Kong.
She was arrested upon arrival at the NAIA the same day, he said.
Mison said that the BI will order the deportation of Cai back to China.
Jose Carlita Licas, acting intelligence chief of the BI, said Cai attempted to enter Hong Kong disguised as a Filipina to evade China's one-child policy.
“She may have wanted to deliver her second child in Hong Kong because Chinese couples who sire a second child are meted stiff fines,†Licas said.
Licas said that Cai admitted paying P200,000 to a certain Mr. Chen for the fake passport.
Licas added that according to Cai, it was the same Mr. Chen who also instructed her to present her Chinese passport upon departure from Manila and show the fake Philippine passport in Hong Kong.
The BI official said that Cai traveled with her wife to Hong Kong, but they got separated after she was turned back to Manila.
