MANILA, Philippines - The state disaster response agency on Thursday recorded the eighth victim of typhoon Labuyo which battered northern and eastern part of the country.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said the latest casualty, Ronald Borja, 27, of Sitio Amutan, Matawe, Dingalan, Aurora, drowned during the height of the typhoon.
The NDRRMC reported that seven persons were injured during the severe weather disturbance. Four are still missing, according to the NDRRMC's 5 a.m. report.
Meanwhile, more than 61,000 families were affected by the typhoon, 151 of whom opted to stay in evacuation centers, the NDRRMC added.
The NDRRMC also recorded a total of P932.2 million in damages in infrastructure and agriculture in regions 1, 2, 3, and Cordillera Administrative Region.
The province of Quirino, three towns in Zambales -- Sta. Cruz, Candelaria and Masinloc -- and three municipalities in Aurora are still under the state of calamity, the NDRRMC added.
