Juancho Mahusay - The Philippine Star

CALAPAN CITY, Philippines – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) here has announced that at least 195 workers in Oriental Mindoro have received their back wages based on the voluntary visits conducted by the agency in the province and the implementation of its Labor Standards Enforcement Program (LSEP).

According to DOLE-Region 4-B (Mimaropa) director Ma. Zenaida Eusebia Angara-Campita, the LSEP, in the first five months of 2013, covered at least 294 establishments in Oriental Mindoro, particularly in Calapan City and Puerto Galera.

As a result of these DOLE visits, 28 inspected establishments or 9.5 percent of the total were applauded for having no violations of labor standards, while 68 or 25.56 percent were found to have deficiencies on wage standards and wage-related benefits.
