Cop hurt as bomb hits Zamboanga Sibugay police station

ZAMBOANGA City, Philippines - An improvised bomb explosive in a police station's compound in Malangas, Zamboanga Sibugay on Sunday night, injuring one policeman.

Chief Inspector Ariel Huesca, spokesman of Police Regional Office 9 (PRO), identified the lone victim as Senior Police Office 1 Editho Talison of the Malangas Municipal Police Station.

Huesca said that Talison was parking his motorcycle when the bomb exploded at around 8:15 p.m.

Police investigators found out that the bomb was planted beneath a patrol car parked just outside the police station's fence.

Talison sustained injuries in the back of his body and was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital for treatment.

The explosion damaged the patrol car.

“The police in the area suspected that the bomb attack is a result of their campaign against the proliferation of drugs in the area,” Huesca said.

Post blast investigations are being conducted by the police to determine the group behind the bomb attack.
