4.6 quake rocks Eastern Samar
MANILA, Philippines - A 4.6 magnitude earthquake struck Eastern Samar and nearby areas on Wednesday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reported.
Phivolcs said the quake struck at 6:13 a.m., traced eight kilometers northea st of Llorente town.
The quake was felt at Intensity 4 in Llorente town; Intensity 3 in Borongan town and Intensity 2 in the towns of Mercedes, Oras, Dolores, San Policarpio and Talocan City in Leyte province.
It was also felt at Intensity 1 in Palo, Leyte.
The quake, meanwhile, was followed by a mild tremor at 8:20 a.m. in Mapanas town, Northern Samar.
Phivolcs expects more aftershocks from the two quakes.
