Gov't employee hacked to death in Abra
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – An empoyee of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Abra was hacked to death Tuesday morning, the Cordillera police said.
John Paul Barbero, 29, a resident of barangay Apappaya, Villaviciosa town, Abra sustained different hack wounds from a bolo, killing him instantly.
Abra police said Barbero attempted to rape a 21-year old girl in sitio Las-ud, brangay Bollilising, in the town 11 a.m. Tuesday, prompting the young brother of the latter to grab a bolo and hack the DSWD employee to death.
Probers initially gathered that Barbero arrived at the tobacco flu-curing barn of the young hacking suspect. Then he tried to rape the 21-year-old, a casual employee of Medicare Hospital.
Angered, the young boy, who was immediately arrested by policemen, hacked Barbero to death.
The bolo used in the crime was seized by investigators, who are still investigating on the incident.
