‘Add more food items in DTI caravan’

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) should include in its nationwide “Diskwento Caravan” more food products that poor Filipinos can afford.

“This ‘Diskwento Caravan’ is a reprieve for consumers with limited budgets and who had to deal with buying household items, particularly food products, with price tags that always seem to go up. It would be a good idea if this project is done all year round,” said United Nationalist Alliance senatorial bet Jack Enrile, as he batted for the proposed Food Master Plan contained in House Bill 4626 or the Food for Filipinos First bill that he filed in Congress.

“This has workable, doable solutions for the constant need for adequate food that will meet our requirements, at prices that ordinary people can afford. It’s a way out of the hunger that confronts many of our countrymen these days,” Enrile said.
