24 areas in Pangasinan experience power outage

DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines – Twenty-four areas in Eastern Pangasinan will experience a 10-hour power outage today.

The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP) said the scheduled power interruption – from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. – would affect the towns of Alcala, Asingan, Balungao, Basista, Bautista, Bayambang, Binalonan, Laoac, parts of Malasique, Mangaldan, Mapandan, Natividad, Pozorrubio, Rosales, San Manuel, San Nicolas, San Quintin, Sta. Maria, Sto. Tomas, parts of Sison, Tayug, Umingan, Urdaneta City and Villasis.

Lilibeth Gaydowen, NGCP’s corporate communication and public affairs officer for North Luzon, said the power outage was due to maintenance check and testing of a power transformer and equipment by the Pangasinan Electric Cooperative (PANELCO) 3 and Central Pangasinan Electric Cooperative (CENPELCO)at NGCP’s San Manuel Substation.

Gaydowen said simultaneous line maintenance along Labrador-Bolinao, San Manuel-Umingan and San Manuel-San Jacinto transmission lines would also be conducted.

She said PANELCO 3 and CENPELCO identified the city and municipalities to be affected by the power interruption.

A power interruption will also occur in the towns of Manaoag, San Fabian and San Jacinto from 7 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. to facilitate the shifting of power source.

Gaydowen said normal operation would immediately resume after work is finished.
