Girl, 13, raped and beheaded in Zamboanga

Roel Pareño - The Philippine Star

ZAMBOANGA City, Philippines - A farmer, who confessed that he likes watching pornographic movies, admitted to beheading and raping a 13-year-old girl in Bayog town, Zamboanga del Sur last week, police reported Monday.

Inspector Gaspar Gadingan, Bayog town police chef, identified the suspect as Alex Bulalo, a resident of Barangay Kahayagan.

Gadingan said that a foul odor led the residents to the already decomposing body of the victim, Mary Apple Entag, in a bushy area in Barangay Kahayagan at around 11 a.m. last Saturday.

The town police chief said that the parents of the victim reported her missing last week. He said that the girl was sent by her parents to their neighbor to borrow some spices for their food, but she failed to return on Tuesday.

Gadingan said that according to a witness, the girl was taken by a hooded man armed with a bolo and dragged her to a forested area of the village.

He said that the victim's head was severed and she was not wearing any underwear when discovered.

Gadingan said that during the retrieval of the victim’s remains, police investigators saw Bulalo among the onlookers and noticed that he was behaving suspiciously.

When arrested, Bulalo, who was a distant relative of the girl, admitted that he beheaded the girl before raping her, the town police chief said.

“The suspect appeared to be mentally disturbed as he admitted to the crime by cutting the victim’s head before the sexual assault last Tuesday about 3 p.m.,” Gadingan said.

He said that the suspect also admitted that he likes watching pornographic films, which influenced him to commit the crime.

The suspect was brought to the court on Monday for inquest proceedings and the subsequent filing of appropriate charges.
