DDB completes nationwide drug abuse survey

Reinir Padua - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The government is set to release this year the results of a nationwide survey on drug abuse, according to the head of the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB).

During a recent DDB media seminar, Undersecretary Jose Marlowe Pedregosa, the agency’s executive director, said the survey has been completed and the board is now consolidating the findings.

Pedregosa said the survey, which was started last year, covers the “nature and extent” of drug abuse in the country.

The survey was done through random sampling with more than 10,000 respondents aged 10 to 60, he said.

The last leg of the survey in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao has just been completed.

The first and last nationwide survey on drug abuse was in 2007, according to DDB.
