MANILA, Philippines - A total of 1,041 people were arrested in connection with the ongoing Commission on Elections gun ban since Jan. 13, the Philippine National Police said on Tuesday.
The PNP also reported as of Feb. 19, 8 a.m., that of the figure, five were soldiers, 13 cops, 14 government officials and two members of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit.
Authorities also seized 1,009 assorted firearms, 5,047 ammunition, 43 grenades, 174 other explosive devices, 261 bladed weapons and 28 gun replicas.
The PNP said the arrests made by policemen were not solely from checkpoints but also from police operations against wanted persons.
