ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – A speeding cargo truck hit and killed a 79-year-old woman, who had just placed a lotto bet in a nearby outlet in a village in this city, police said yesterday.
Chief Inspector Larry Domingo, commander of Police Station 7 identified the victim as Catalina Mendoza, a resident of Gov. Ramos, Barangay Sta. Maria.
Mendoza was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to head injuries.
Police have detained the driver of the cargo truck, Clin Timtim, 36, pending the filing of charges against him.
