8 arrested in raid on Ormoc drug den

ORMOC CITY, Philippines – Seven men and a woman were nabbed in a raid on a suspected drug den in a slum area in Barangay Cogon here, just a stone’s throw away from the new City Hall, on Tuesday night.

Police swooped down on the rented room of one Sheryl Canoday, 27, and chanced upon seven men, including two guards of the Energy Development Corp., having a pot session.

Chief Inspector Ibrahim Jambiran, police Station 1 chief, said the raid was the result of their surveillance on reported drug dens in the city.

He said Canoday would be charged for maintaining a drug den, a non-bailable offense, and the seven others for drug use.
