CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – Criminal charges will be filed on Wednesday against the brothers tagged as prime suspects in the killing of a University of Sto. Tomas coed in Bacoor, Cavite.
In a phone interview with The STAR, Cavite police director Senior Superintendent John Bulalacao said Rolin Gacita, 27, and his brother Roel, 24, would be charged with robbery with homicide before the Bacoor City prosecutor’s office by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Cavite and local police.
The Gacitas brothers were arrested in their house in Barangay Molino 7 in Bacoor town Friday morning.
“We have an airtight case against them because the brothers were positively identified by witnesses as the killers of 20-year-old Cyrish Magalang. The suspects also admitted they committed the crime,” Bulalacao said.
Bulalacao said the suspects confessed to selling Magalang’s cellphone to an unidentified buyer from Tondo, Manila.
“The suspects’ motive was only to rob the victim, however, Magalang tried to resist, prompting the Gacitas brothers to stab her 49 times and dump her body in an abandoned nipa hut in Gawaran Height in Barangay Molino 7,” Superintendent Romano Cardino, Bacoor police chief, said.
