Reward offered for killers of lawyer, cop

MALOLOS CITY, Philippines – This city’s mayor has offered a P200,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the killers of a lawyer and a Manila police officer here last Thursday.

Mayor Christian Natividad said they have set aside P100,000 bounty each for the killers of PO2 Ronnel Coquia and his lawyer Lysandro Sanchez, who were waylaid by motorcycle-riding men along the MacArthur Highway in Barangay Tikay here last Thursday morning.

“The killing must be stopped and justice must be served,” Natividad said in offering the reward money.

The killing was the third in just six months in this city. Last March, Bulacan Gov. Wilhelmino Alvarado had expressed alarm over the spate of killings in the province.

While crime incidents in the province remain low compared to last year, Alvarado said he is bothered by the audacity of killers who carried out their hit jobs in broad daylight.

Sanchez and Coquia had just come from a court hearing here when they were ambushed.
