Zambo man kills wife, 5 children

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines – A family man who said he could no longer bear the hard life smashed his wife and five children to death with a stone on Easter Sunday in a remote village in San Miguel, Zamboanga del Sur, police said.

Police identified the suspect as Pepito Catoy, 32, and the victims as his wife Adeta and children Merlyn, 10; Mylene, 6; Reneboy, 4; Aileen, 3; and Dylene, 1. 

The victims died on the spot from head and chest injuries. Catoy reportedly even threw the bodies of Aileen and Dylene out of the window.

Catoy was later arrested and claimed that tribal folk killed his family. He, however, eventually owned up to the crime.
