MANILA, Philippines - Another tremor hit the island province of Batanes yesterday.
Reports said the latest quake, which was tectonic in origin, was recorded at magnitude 3.6 around 1:31 a.m., with the epicenter recorded some 68 kilometers east of Basco town.
A magnitude 3.6 earthquake was also recorded in Southern Leyte yesterday but there was no report of damage or injury, state seismologists said.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the tremor occurred at 3:35 a.m. with its epicenter traced at 23 km northeast of Hinunangan, Southern Leyte.
It was recorded at intensity 2 in St. Bernard town in Southern Leyte.
A 4.8 magnitude quake also hit parts of Batanes last Sunday. It was felt at intensity 4 in Basco and Uyugan in Batan Island and Sabtang and intensity 2 in Itbayat, the country’s northernmost town.
