DIPOLOG CITY ,Philippines – At least six persons from this province have been discovered to be suffering from human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection.
Provincial HIV/AIDS coordinator Abigail Khio said the six patients, who said they had different sexual partners, tested positive for HIV.
Khio said HIV infection could not be easily detected because patients usually see the doctor for treatment of sexually transmitted diseases. She said all health centers in Zamboanga del Norte have intensified their information drive about HIV/AIDS.
