New York Times cites Pinoy nurse
COTABATO CITY, Philippines – A Filipino nurse of mixed Tausog and Maguindanaon ancestry has been awarded the “Tribute to Nurses Award for Innovation and Leadership” by the New York Times.
The Catholic radio station dxND, one of several broadcast outfits of the Oblate of Mary Immaculate congregation, reported that registered nurse Michael Tagadaya received the award at the operations center of the New York Times in Manhattan.
Tagadaya finished a nursing degree at the Notre Dame University here, which is also owned by the Oblates.
Tagadaya presently works at the New York University Hospital.
Tagadaya passed the nursing board in 1991 and subsequently applied for work in the United States.
Tagadaya is son of the late Julhussien Tagadaya, a bemedalled police officer who also served as chief of the Cotabato City police in the late-1980s.
