MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino will lead the inauguration of the Caticlan airport in Aklan today as part of the government’s thrust to boost domestic tourism.
In a statement, Malacañang said the President would lead the ceremonial lighting of the Caticlan airport scale model.
The Caticlan airport development project is an example of the Public-Private Partnership being spearheaded by the Aquino administration. Behind it is TransAire Development Holdings Corp., a subsidiary of San Miguel Corp.
Aside from developing the airport, TransAire has proposed that the airport be renamed the Boracay airport although the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines has yet to approve it.
