BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Philippines – Another village chief in the region was shot dead, this time in this landlocked province, the other day.
The victim, Hernani Obaña, chairman of Barangay Bone South in southern Aritao town, was shot twice in a cornfield in his village at around 3:45 p.m. Monday.
Senior Superintendent Elmer Beltejar, provincial police director, said they already have a suspect in mind who had had a long-standing personal grudge with Obaña, who was in his early 50s.
“Our suspect and the victim were in frequent altercation with each other. In fact, their grudge had even records in our police blotter in our Aritao office,” Beltejar said.
