BACOLOD City, Philippines – Five people were killed while 23 were injured when their bus slammed into trees last Wednesday morning in an area in Talisay City, Negros Occidental described by residents as a “killer curve” where 10 vehicular accidents have occurred since last year, police said.
Two of the fatalities, Myrna Octavio and Juan John Gallenero, died on the spot, while Leopoldo Parcon and Rogelio Plame died on arrival at the Riverside Medical Center in Bacolod City, police said.
The fifth fatality, Jefferson Trinidad, later died at the Riverside Medical Center due to multiple fractures.
The 23 other passengers, including the driver, Ruel Figueroa, were rushed to different hospitals in Bacolod, police said.
