Sagittarius Mines gets Palace award

-

MANILA, Philippines - Tampakan’s Sagittarius Mines Inc. (SMI), the government contractor for the Tampakan copper-gold project, continues to commit to responsible minerals development as it was honored for the second consecutive year with the Presidential Mining Industry Environmental Award during the 57th Annual National Mine Safety Conference held in Baguio City last weekend.

President Aquino was represented by Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Ramon Paje in handing the award, a citation most sought-after by mining firms as it becomes no less than a project endorsement from the national government.

SMI general manager Mark Williams said the award is a testament to the company’s commitment to balancing social, environmental and economic impact in managing the Tampakan project.
