16 tourists rescued as motorboats collide

- Evelyn Macairan -

MANILA, Philippines – Elements of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) rescued 13 foreigners and three Filipino tourists when the motorized boats they were riding collided with each other off Boracay Island in Aklan last Thursday morning.

Lt. Commander Arman Balilo, PCG spokesman, said the foreigners – 11 Taiwanese and two Koreans – and the three Filipinos were aboard motorboats M/B Phil-3 and M/B Sea Park, which rammed into each other due to supposed poor visibility some 150 meters off Boat Station 2 in Barangay Manoc-Manoc.

M/B Phil 3 was reportedly on island hopping, while M/B Sea Park was en route to a diving adventure.
