24 Pangasinan mayors, board members re-elected

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan , Philippines  – Twenty-four incumbent mayors in Pangasinan, three of them unopposed plus five provincial board members, were re-elected and proclaimed winners in the May 10 elections.

Based on the election results, incumbent mayors who won fresh mandate as un­opposed were: Sto. Tomas Mayor Vivien Villar, Bautista Mayor Amado Espino III, Bugallon Mayor Rodrigo Orduña.

Although they needed only one vote for their proclamation, all of them got more than 90 percent of the votes from their constituent voters.

Among the three un­opposed mayors, it was only Villar, wife of Secretary Antonio Villar Jr., chairman of the Dangerous Drugs Board, who consistently ran unopposed in all her mayoralty fights.

Re-elected mayors were: Jose Pajeta Jr. (Agno), Hernani Braganza (Alaminos City), Manuel Collado (Alcala), Marcelo Navarro Jr. (Bani), Ricardo Camacho (Bayambang), Alfonso Celeste (Bolinao), Noel Nacar (Dasol), Ernesto Castañeda Jr. (Lingayen), Ruperto Martinez (Infanta), Carlito Reyes (Mabini), Armand Domantay Sr. (Malasiqui), Napoleon Sales (Manaoag) Herminio Romero (Mangaldan), Teodoro Cruz (Mangatarem), Ricardo Revita (Rosales), Julier Resuello (San Carlos City), Leoncio Saldivar (San Nicolas), John Rodney Arcinue (Sual), Carlos Trece Mapili (Tayug), Eldred Tumbocon (Umi­ngan) and Ernesto Balolong Jr. (Urbiztondo).

Only Mapandan Mayor Maximo Calimlim Jr., a neophyte candidate for mayor was unchallenged in his first attempt in politics. He is the uncle of vice governor-elect Jose Ferdinand Calimlim Jr. who is now the outgoing mayor of Mapandan. 

Mark Roy Macanlalay of Calasiao, son of incumbent Mayor Roy Macanlalay won as mayor, succeeding his father who ran and won as his vice mayor. 

The same situation happened in San Nicolas town wherein Alain Jericho Perez would succeed his father, Mayor Salvador Perez, who was also elected as vice mayor. 

Irene Libunao of San Fabian town will succeed her husband, Mayor Mojamito Libunao Jr. who won as board member in the fourth district. 

Libradita “Dita” Abrenica of Villasis will also take the place of her husband, three-term Mayor Nonato Abrenica.

Ramon Guico III of Binalonan will also inherit the throne to be vacated by his father, Mayor Ramon Guico Jr., who ran and lost in the senatorial race.

In Urdaneta City, Amado Gregorio Perez IV will succeed his father, three-term Mayor Amadeo Perez Jr.

Philipp Peralta of Balungao will also take over the post to be vacated by his brother, outgoing Mayor Jose Peralta Jr., who lost in his bid as board member of the fifth district.

Other elected mayors are: Eduardo Ballesteros (Aguilar), Aldrin Cerdan (Anda), Heidee Chua (Asingan), Manolito de Leon (Basista), Lorenzo Cerezo (Binmaley), Albert Guiang Jr. (Burgos), Benjamin Lim (Dagupan City), Ricardo Camacho (Labrador), Silverio Alarcio (Laoac), Rodrigo Rafael (Natividad), Artemio Chan (Pozorrubio), Robert de Vera (San Jacinto), Romulo Antolin (San Quintin), Carlito Zaplan (Sta. Barbara) Teodoro Ramos (Sta. Maria) and Mina Joy Pangasinan (Sison).

Interestingly, the mayors of Bayambang and Labrador are both named Ricardo Camacho.

Meanwhile, re-elected board members are: Von Mark Mendoza, Angel Baniqued, Jeremy Agerico Rosario, Danilo Uy and Alfonso Bince Jr. for second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth districts respectively.  

They will be joined by the following board members-elect: Napoleon Fontelera Jr. and Teofilo Humilde Jr. (first district), Raul Sison (second district), Generoso Tulagan Jr. (third district), Mojamito Libanao Jr. (fourth district), Clemente Arboleda Jr. (fifth district) and Ranjit Ramos Shahani (sixth district).
