DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Speaker Prospero Nograles is being trounced in the city’s mayoral race by the daughter of outgoing Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.
In partial and unofficial results of the city canvassing board as of press time, Sara Duterte, the outgoing vice mayor, garnered 380,268 votes against Nograles’ 157,615 votes.
The figures reportedly represented 97 percent of the election results in the city.
Mayor Duterte, who is on his third and last term, is his daughter’s vice mayoral running mate, pitted against former mayor Benjamin de Guzman.
As of press time, Duterte got 431,244 votes against De Guzman’s 103,963 votes.
Nograles’ son Karlo, however, was leading the congressional race in the first district with 98,929 votes against the 90,750 votes of his closest rival, councilor Mabel Sunga-Acosta.
In the second district, lawyer Mylene Garcia-Albano was leading with 60,299 votes against her closest rival, councilor Diosdado Mahipus, with 42,116 votes.
Re-electionist Rep. Isidro Ungab was ahead in the third district race against former congressman Ruy Elias Lopez.
