Vacationing siblings drown in La Union

CAMP DIEGO SILANG, La Union , Philippines  – A 10-year-old boy and his 15-year-old sister drowned after they were swept away by strong currents of water while swimming at a beach in Barangay, Nalvo Sur, Luna, La Union last Sunday.

Chief Inspector Reynaldo Ligutan, Luna police chief, identified the victims as siblings Harold and Ina Abellana, both residents of Las Piñas City.

An elder sister of the victims, Jhunalice Abellana, 24, and her boyfriend Wendy Valdemor, 29, survived the incident.

“We were hit by big waves. My brother and sister were carried by the strong currents of water while my boyfriend and I managed to swim along the shoreline,” Jhunalice said.
