Tornado batters Ninoy Aquino town

KORONADAL CITY , Philippines  – A tornado uprooted trees and blew away the roofs of houses in Senator Ninoy Aquino town in Sultan Kudarat yesterday, but no one was reported hurt.

After the tornado, heavy rain followed, said Mayor Dante Manganaan in a long-distance phone interview.

“We don’t have yet the exact number of barangays and number of residents affected by the tornado. Our social workers are still in the field gathering data,” he said, adding though that at least four houses were totally destroyed.           – Ramil Bajo
