After biggest ensaymada, Bulacan makes giant inipit
MALOLOS CITY, Philippines – Two days after making what it touted as the biggest ensaymada, Bulacan churned out yesterday a giant inipit, a local pastry filled with custard, in its bid to promote the local bakery industry.
Both feats were part of the eight-day Singkaban Festival.
On Wednesday, local bakers presented a giant ensaymada with a diameter of 40 feet.
The giant inipit, meanwhile, weighed 1,500 kilos and measured 15 feet wide, 30 feet long and two inches thick, and took 50 people from six bakeries to make. About P350,000 was spent for its ingredients.
Gov. Joselito Mendoza, together with Susan Ople, president of the Blas F. Ople Policy Center and Training Institute, and local officials, sampled the inipit.
Besides aiming to pump-prime the local bakery industry, Mendoza said they wanted to replicate last year’s feat when what was considered to be the longest pastillas (carabao milk candy) was made.
