PDEA-CAR arrests ally of shabu supplier

La Trinidad, Benguet , Philippines  – A female cohort of the drug trading business of a shabu supplier from Manila fell into the hands of authorities Sunday afternoon.

Sylvia Bagtang with a nom de’ guerre “Dakiwas,” 34, married, nursing aide graduate, a native of Buguias, Benguet and resident of Km. 4, Pines Park, Lubas, La Trinidad, Benguet was caught by anti-narcotics agents of the PDEA-CAR selling shabu.

Bagtang, who according to Emelyn Fama, PDEA-CAR’s information officer, is in the “target list of drug personalities in the Cordillera Region.” She was arrested with two small heat-sealed transparent sachets of shabu, which she tried to sell to a PDEA-CAR agent acting as poseur-buyer.

The illegal drugs, which were placed in a video compact disc case, approximately weigh 0.20 grams and have a street value of P2,400.

The suspect’s 1110i Nokia cellular phone with Talk and Text sim card was also seized during the ‘entrapment’ deal and will be used as evidence against her.

One of the top priorities of PDEA-CAR’s Action Plan for the current year is the deactivation of local drug groups in the region, through the neutralization of their members who are listed in the target and watch lists of drug personalities, said Fama.

A week earlier, Bagtang’s cohort – Leonard Palki – who is also in the target list, was apprehended with P10,000 worth of shabu by PDEA-CAR operatives during a buy-bust operation at Km. 5, La Trinidad, Benguet.

Also Thursday last week, an alleged drug supplier from Tondo, Manila fell into the hands of anti-drug operatives after he was entrapped in front of a church, right across a state university by a composite team – PDEA and Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU)-CAR.

The suspect was named by Senior Superintendent Moises Guevarra, regional chief of the CIDG-Cordillera as Marcial Cajucom, 41, married, a driver, a BS Criminology graduate, and a native and resident of Katamanan St., Tondo, Manila.
