ANGELES CITY – Police arrested here five undocumented Chinese nationals during simultaneous raids yesterday morning on two houses in two posh subdivisions in Barangays Balibago and Anunas where chemicals used in making shabu and finished products were seized.
Chief Superintendent Leon Nilo de la Cruz, Central Luzon police director, identified the Chinese suspects as Yang Hong Liang, 28; Yang Liang Zao, 39; Yang Pei Zi, 34; Lin Asi, 30; and Wang Chunri, 34, all natives of Fujian, China.
Armed with search warrants, Bucsit’s teams simultaneously raided at around 9 a.m. yesterday suspected shabu laboratories on 1011 Ohio street in Villasol Subdivision in Anunas and a house along Sandiko street in Diamond Subdivision in Balibago.
Two Chinese nationals were arrested in Diamond and three more in Villasol, said Senior Superintendent Pierre Bucsit, city police chief.
The raiders found raw materials and paraphernalia for shabu manufacturing as well as finished products in both houses, he said.
Bucsit said inventories were still being conducted by his men as of press time, adding though that the raided houses were not big enough for large-scale shabu production.
“I suppose that the raided laboratories produced as much as 10 kilos of shabu each per week,” he said.
He said his investigators asked the court to issue search warrants following intelligence information on “environmental indicators” of shabu manufacture, the suspicious movements of people there, and the presence of aliens in the two houses.
Bucsit said his investigators were still probing deeper into the two shabu labs to find out their sources of raw materials.
Investigators said the two shabu labs could have been the sources of shabu peddled along Roxas street in nearby Mabalacat town where the illegal drug trade has reportedly become a regular source of income for many households. – With Ric Sapnu and Edu Punay
