Anti-narcotics agents are now hunting down a Chinese national believed to be behind the abandoned shabu laboratory which authorities discovered in Masbate City yesterday.
In an initial report, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said an undetermined quantity of “suspected assorted precursors” of shabu was found at the Kimberly Apartment in Provincial Subdivision in Purok 4, Nursery Village, Masbate City.
PDEA information officer Derrick Carreon said the apartment owner, a certain Pablo Alcantara, discovered the shabu chemicals and immediately informed the PDEA field unit in Masbate about them.
Carreon said Alcantara told authorities that a certain Jimmy Villegas rented the apartment. But PDEA Region 5 director Chief Inspector Joven Parcon suspects that Villegas only serves as a front or an associate of a certain Chiong, a Taiwanese national.
