BUTUAN CITY – A 21-year-old son of a grocery store owner robbed the family-owned grocery in Cabadbaran City in Agusan del Norte province Thursday afternoon after he poked his gun at the store’s cashier ordering the cashier to turn over to him the day’s earnings, belated report reaching Caraga Police Office here said.
Police report did not disclose the amount of money forcibly taken away by the suspect identified by Cabadbaran police as Eric Genalo Jr.
Police said the suspect armed with a .45 caliber pistol entered the grocery shortly after lunch and pointed the gun at the grocery cashier.
After allegedly taking the money, the suspect fled to an unknown direction.
It was not known whether the suspect was high on drugs at the time of the incident.
According to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency, Cabadbaran City is in the top three list of cities in Caraga Region affected by proliferation of illegal drugs like shabu, otherwise known as poor man’s cocaine.
The current street market price of shabu in Caraga Region is pegged at P6,500 per gram. – Ben Serrano
