CHR gets police reports on Batangas operations

-

sA special police investigation team formed to look into allegations of rubout in the series of anti-robbery operations in Tanauan City, Batangas last month, has furnished the Commission on Human Rights with the pertinent reports and documents on the incidents.

Director Leopoldo Bataoil, deputy director for civil relations of the Philippine National Police, said the special team is also conducting a parallel probe on the supposed wrongful arrest of former Army sergeant Edgardo Gomolon.

Both cases – the Tanauan encounter and Gomolon’s arrest – are directly linked to the continuing police operations in connection with the May 16 robbery at the Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) branch in Cabuyao, Laguna where 10 people, mostly bank employees, were shot dead.      – Jaime Laude
