Military finds 6 NPA camps in S. Mindanao

DAVAO CITY – The military has found six camps of the New People’s Army at the boundary of the towns of New Bataan and Compostela in Compostela Valley and Baganga, Davao Oriental.

Maj. Gen. Leo Jogy Fojas, commander of the Army’s 10th Infantry Division, described the discovery of the NPA enclaves as a major tactical defeat on the part of the Communist Party of the Philippines-NPA-National Democratic Front, which he said subsists on sowing terror and making life hard especially for rural folk.

The six camps formed part of the rebels’ network of bases in Southern Mindanao, a major NPA stronghold in this part of the country.  – Edith Regalado
