6 dead, 53 hurt in road accidents in Quirino, Bataan

CABARROGUIS, Quirino – Six people were killed and at least 53 others were injured in road accidents in Quirino and Bataan, reports said.

In this town, three jeepney passengers, including a 20-year-old graduating commerce student, met their death while 24 others suffered injuries when their vehicle plunged into a 30-foot deep ravine in a remote village last Friday.

Reports said the jeep was on its way to Barangay Ponggo in mountaousin Nagtipunan town when its shifting gear malfunctioned while descending a steep stretch, causing it to fall off the cliff.

In Dinalupihan, Bataan, meanwhile, three Aetas were killed and 29 others were hurt during a collision of a passenger jeepney and a Federal Express trailer truck along the national highway before dawn yesterday.

Authorities identified the fatalities as Ofelia Cano-nizado, 52, Alvina Bruno, and Consolacion Morales.
