LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Abra remains as the “killing fields” of the Cordilleras as eight people, including a municipal councilor, were killed in a span of five days in three towns, including the capital, Bangued.
In broad daylight yesterday, Bucay town councilor and former policeman Nito Sales, in his 50s, was gunned down.
Also in Bucay last Monday, a female clerk of court was killed, and police were probing if the twin slayings were related.
The rash of killings began last Sunday when two supposed supporters of Tineg Mayor Edwin Crisologo, who was recently declared as the real winner, were gunned down in an apparent ambush.
At least three others were killed in Bangued Tuesday night. A third person was also slain in Bucay town earlier this week. – Artemio Dumlao, Myds Supnad
