Still no sign of Burgos as military faces court

-

Military officers linked to the abduction of missing activist Jonas Burgos and their lawyers appeared before the Court of Appeals Friday but insisted they did not have him.

The Supreme Court had earlier granted a writ of habeas corpus for Burgos and ordered President Gloria Arroyo and the military to bring Burgos before the CA.

However, only the lawyer of Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP) Chief Delfin Bangit submitted his return of the writ.

Burgos, an agriculturist, is the son of the late press freedom fighter Jose "Joe" Burgos Jr.  The activisit had been taken from a  restaurant at the Ever Gotesco mall on Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City by armed men suspected to be military soldiers last April 28.
