NCRPO sets ASEAN meet security dry run

The National Capital Regional Police Office (NCRPO) will stage a dry run tomorrow for its 9,000 personnel tasked to secure the venue of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) ministerial meeting on July 17 to Aug. 2.

NCRPO chief Deputy Director General Reynaldo Varilla said the security dry run will be held at night so as not to alarm the public and promenaders at the Philippine International Convention Center (PICC).

Varilla said at least 31 countries have signified their intention to send their delegates to the ASEAN meet.

He appealed to commuters and fellow Filipinos to keep away from the vicinity of the PICC as security in the area will be extra tight to prevent participants from being victimized by criminal gangs.
