IMUS, Cavite Elements of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Special Operations Group (SOG) arrested a 32-year-old grandson of Cavite Gov. Ireneo "Ayong" Maliksi for a murder case.
Senior Superintendent Benjardi Mantele, Cavite police director, identified the suspect as Benedict Maliksi Jr., said to be a member of the civil security unit of the provincial government.
Benedict is reportedly a son of the governors first cousin.
With the strength of an arrest warrant issued by Judge Matias Garcia of Regional Trial Court Branch 14, police apprehended Benedict in connection with the killing of Cora Aguillon, a coordinator of Citizen Crime Watch, a few months ago.
Reports said SOG elements led by Superintendent Leo Francisco arrested Benedict in a friends house in Barangay Kalsada here last Monday morning. An unlicensed caliber .45 pistol and a shotgun were seized from him.
Reporters tried to talk to Benedict at his detention cell at Camp Pantaleon Garcia, but he refused to give any statement.
