Notorious kidnapper arrested

ILIGAN CITY — A notorious kidnapper wanted for a string of abductions and killings in the two Lanao provinces was captured here last Friday morning, the military said.

Brig. Gen. Ben Dolorfino, deputy commander of the Armed Forces Southern Command, said the suspect, Elias Makasalong Makil, was arrested at Rosario Heights here on the strength of a warrant for murder and illegal possession of explosives.

Dolorfino said Makil was listed in the order of battle of the Ad Hoc Joint Action Group of the government and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front.

Makil was tagged in the ransom kidnappings of Gerald Tomawis and Vincent Jariol in Lanao del Norte last year and Sultan Disalongan Polala in this city last June, among others. — Ramil Bajo, Mike Baños and Roel Pareño
