Tagbilaran offers peace to NDF

Tagbilaran City — The city government of Tagbilaran is awaiting a response from the National Democratic Front-New People’s Army (NDF-NPA) on its offer to negotiate for a peace accord aimed at ensuring peace and security in the city, which is now being developed as a tourist destination.

City Mayor Dan Lim said the city governance will await within 30 days for a response from the rebels to the "olive branch of peace" they offered.

"If none is coming, the city government will take it to mean that we are left on our own to search for peace," the mayor stressed during his State of the City Address SOCA) at the City Hall atrium last week.

"Elsewhere you may have the basis for waging a revolution but I do believe it is not justified in Tagbilaran," the mayor said. — Peter Dejaresco
