Lian barangay head survives slay try

LIAN, Batangas Motorcycle-riding men shot and wounded a barangay captain here after he attended a parade at the town plaza last Tuesday afternoon, police said.
Chief Inspector Dante Novicio, municipal police chief, said Carlito Isip, 38, chairman of Barangay San Diego, was hit in the right shoulder. He was declared out of danger.
He quoted Isip as saying that he has no known enemies.
Novicio ordered 24-hour security for Isip in the hospital.
Police found one empty shell and a slug from a caliber .45 pistol at the crime scene.
Meanwhile, four suspected guns-for-hire killed a storeowner in Canlubang, Laguna Tuesday night.
