3 killed, 26 injured in Bicol bus collission

LEGAZPI CITY Three people were killed on the spot while 26 others were injured when two buses collided early yesterday morning along the Maharlika Highway in Barangay Banga, Ragay town, Camarines Sur.
Killed on the spot were Jorge Urbita, the driver of Silver Star bus, and two passengers Lucia Valenzuena and Alex Bonete, all from Catbalogan, Samar.
Senior Superintendent Romeo Mapalo, Camarines Sur police provincial director, said the Silver Star bus, with license plate DVW-568 enroute to Metro Manila from Samar, collided with a Raymond bus, with license plate EVH-106, at about 4:45 a.m. in Sitio Sampaloc along the national highway.
Eleven of the passengers of the Silver Star bus and 15 passengers of the Raymond bus were injured and brought to different hospitals in Quezon province and Camarines Sur.
"We are still conducting an investigation as to the cause of the accident," said Mapalo.
Initial reports showed that the Silver Star bus had cut into the path of the Raymond bus.
