Ilocos Sur politician shot

BAGUIO CITY An opposition leader in Ilocos Sur was shot and wounded in front of his house in Bantay town Friday night.
The victim, Nestor Segismundo, 39, one of the leaders of the defunct Save Ilocos Sur Alliance (SISA), was shot in the abdomen as he stepped out of his car. He was declared out of danger by doctors of the Metro Vigan Cooperative Hospital.
Senior Superintendent Mario Subagan, Ilocos Sur police director, said probers were still clueless on the motive behind the attempt on Segismundos life, adding that the victim has many enemies.
Subagan said he has provided security for Segismundo at the hospital and has asked the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group to assist in the investigation. Artemio Dumlao, Cecille Suerte Felipe
