Number scheme for Angeles PUVs

ANGELES CITY — Starting this Monday, the city government is adopting a number scheme for public utility vehicles (PUVs) to ease traffic congestion.

Under the scheme, PUVs with license plates ending in 1 and 2 cannot ply their routes on Mondays; 3 and 4 on Tuesdays, 5 and 6 on Wednesdays, 7 and 8 on Thursdays, and 9 and 0 on Fridays.

On Saturdays, PUVs with license plates ending in 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 are banned from city streets, and those ending in 6, 7, 8, 9 and 0 on Sundays.

City Hall information officer Irish Calaguas said the number scheme will be enforced within three months and if successful, can be adopted permanently.

An odd-even scheme was earlier planned but PUV drivers and operations opposed it. Ding Cervantes
