Agbayani’s 2 siblings not as lucky

LINGAYEN, Pangasinan — While Gov. Victor Agbayani won overwhelmingly his third and final term, his two other siblings did not make it.

Agbayani obtained 840,689 votes over his lone opponent, Marietta Primicias-Goco’s 64,109 votes.

But his brother, Luis "Louie" Agbayani, lost to Rep. Arthur Celeste in the first district congressional fight.

Louie is the outgoing mayor of Sual town which he has served for three consecutive terms. He got 47,310 votes against Celeste’s 96,225.

Teresita Victoria Agbayani, better known in the local music industry as Viktoria, aspired to succeed her brother Louie as Sual mayor but lost to John Rodney Arcinue. She got 4,596 votes against Arcinue’s 7,421 votes.

Asked how the Agbayanis feel about this, the governor said," Of course, we are sad because my siblings were not lucky in their bids but from the beginning when they asked me about their candidacies, I said to them to let the people decide and the people have decided."

He added that both Louie and Viktoria have accepted their defeat "very gracefully." — Eva Visperas
