Another shabu lab discovered in Cavite

CARMONA, Cavite — Police and the Civil Security Group (CSG) jointly raided a shabu laboratory inside an abandoned warehouse here yesterday.

Senior Superintendent Roberto Rosales, Cavite police director, said the shabu laboratory found inside the Herminia building at the Mountain View Industrial Estate in Barangay Bangkal here has apparently been dormant for sometime since no finished products were found.

Rosales, however, said gas burners and several sacks of chemicals, mostly in liquid form, were found in the place.

But Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency chief Anselmo Avenido said 90 kilos of almost finished shabu, estimated at P360 million, were seized in the shabu lab, which he said used to be a foundry.

No one was arrested during the raid, led by the Carmona police and the CSG headed by Director Reynaldo Berroya.

The raid was based on a search warrant issued by Judge Eduardo Tanchangco of the Regional Trial Court of Bacoor, Cavite.

The shabu laboratory was smaller than the ones found in Silang and Tanza towns, also in Cavite, last month, Rosales said.

President Arroyo visited the raided shabu lab yesterday after witnessing the burning of about P80 million worth of seized shabu, chemicals used in shabu manufacturing, and marijuana in Barangay Aguado in Trece Martires City. — With Mike Frialde and Christina Mendez
